Final Summary Reflection #10

Image
I want to thank the professor for making this online course both understandable and engaging. I would highly recommend this class to future students, as it introduces a variety of techniques and online resources that can be used effectively in the classroom. With technology becoming more innovative and integrated not only in education but in our everyday lives, this course felt especially relevant. I will be honest, some of the assignments were challenging and time-consuming, especially since many of the platforms were new to me. However, each assignment was enriching and contributed meaningfully to my learning. I also appreciated the way the professor modeled every assignment. This provided valuable insight into how I should structure my own work and highlight the importance of giving clear instructions and expectations for students. I can proudly say that I am truly satisfied with the work I produced and the knowledge I gained throughout this course. I am leaving this experience feel...

Reflection #9

We have reached the final week of the semester! Four months once felt so far away, yet here we are, finishing strong. This course has been an incredibly valuable experience and has been an eye-opener looking at how quickly technology is evolving and how meaningfully it can be integrated both inside and outside the classroom. Learning to create a Google Form was especially helpful, as I had never made one before. It was a great opportunity to practice a tool I know I will use in my future teaching. I enjoyed exploring the different question types and customization options, like adding header images and choosing background colors to make the form more engaging. I also really enjoyed creating the word search puzzle for the lesson I developed throughout the course. It was exciting to discover the variety of online platforms available to support and enhance the lessons we will teach in the future. One of the most important lessons I have learned throughout my master’s program is the importa...

Reflection #8

It feels surreal that the semester is already coming to an end. I can honestly say it has been a valuable learning experience, especially as we explored online platforms that can support our future classroom teaching. One of the most rewarding parts was having the opportunity to use Adobe Express to create my own short video. Navigating the platform and discovering its various features taught me how versatile it can be for creative projects. This tool would make a great classroom activity, allowing students to design their own videos as a project. It gives them the chance to express themselves, be creative, and share more about who they are. Activities like this help build a positive and safe classroom environment where students can learn more about one another and feel connected. I would definitely use this in my future teaching and will use the example I did in this course.

We are now more than halfway through the semester, and I can honestly say it has been quite a journey. I am truly grateful to have taken this course, as I continue to discover online platforms that can be incredibly useful in our classrooms. This week’s assignment was definitely challenging, but it was also an eye-opening experience that showed me new ways to integrate technology into teaching. Creating the audio recording in Audacity was a lot of fun. The professor’s model for navigating the program was very helpful, and I enjoyed exploring Bensound to find the perfect background track to match my quote. It took some time, but it was worth it. I think this kind of activity would be both engaging and enjoyable for students to try. One new thing I learned was how to add closed captions on YouTube. I didn’t even realize I had my own channel! Although it was time consuming at first, I eventually got the hang of it. The most challenging part was syncing the captions to the correct time fra...

Mid-Course Reflection #6

Taking EDIT 4300 has been both rewarding and challenging. I have learned so much about how technology can be integrated into the classroom. It is amazing to see how the use of online platforms continues to grow in education and in society today. As the years go by, technology becomes more advanced and plays an even bigger role in modern education. Training teachers to use online platforms effectively and encouraging students to engage with them helps create meaningful and effective learning experiences. For many years, social media has often been viewed as a distraction. However, it is important for teachers to understand how to use it effectively in the classroom. Teachers should also help students become responsible digital citizens by teaching them how to behave appropriately and respectfully when using online platforms. At the beginning of this course, I mentioned that I was not very tech-savvy. However, throughout this journey, I have become much more confident in using technology...

It was really interesting to read about the advantages and benefits of using social media in education and inside classrooms. I strongly agree that schools can use social media to organize group projects, communicate with students outside of class, share resources, and much more. In addition, social media has the potential to connect schools to the wider community. I currently work as a substitute teacher for LAUSD. Recently, I taught at Diego Rivera Learning Complex- Green Design High School, where I saw a great example of how social media is used. Students in the media production club record videos throughout the week and share school news every Friday. This activity helps students get involved and be creative while making videos. Students also use Instagram to share school news and promote different clubs. One important point mentioned in the readings is that teachers must act as responsible and attentive administrators to prevent and address inappropriate behavior. I completely ag...

It has been rewarding to see how everything we have learned is coming together and making meaningful connections. Gaining exposure to the ISTE Standards has helped me understand how technology can be integrated into lesson planning. As mentioned in the course, ISTE is not just about using technology but it is also about enhancing student learning through technology. Throughout this course, we have explored how to implement technology effectively, and creating the ISTE lesson plan was a valuable experience. It allowed me to reflect on how I can purposefully use digital tools in my teaching. Although developing the lesson took some time, I truly enjoyed the process. One new skill I gained was learning how to use the RubiStar website to create a rubric. It was both fun and useful. I can definitely see myself using it in my future lesson planning.  I really appreciate that the professor provided a variety of websites for us to choose from when creating our activities. For example, whil...
