Mid-Course Reflection #6
Taking EDIT 4300 has been both rewarding and challenging. I have learned so much about how technology can be integrated into the classroom. It is amazing to see how the use of online platforms continues to grow in education and in society today. As the years go by, technology becomes more advanced and plays an even bigger role in modern education. Training teachers to use online platforms effectively and encouraging students to engage with them helps create meaningful and effective learning experiences. For many years, social media has often been viewed as a distraction. However, it is important for teachers to understand how to use it effectively in the classroom. Teachers should also help students become responsible digital citizens by teaching them how to behave appropriately and respectfully when using online platforms.
At the beginning of this course, I mentioned that I was not very tech-savvy. However, throughout this journey, I have become much more confident in using technology in my teaching. My favorite assignment was creating my own personal blog because it allowed me to express my thoughts and ideas freely. I hope that when I use this activity in my own classroom, my students will feel the same excitement and creativity.
One challenge for me was the HTML assignment. I found it difficult to edit and understand each code. I had to be very careful because even a small mistake would change the whole feature of the page. Another challenge was applying computational thinking concepts in my ISTE lesson plan. It was hard to connect those ideas to my activities and learning objectives.
Despite these challenges, I am grateful for the experience. These activities have helped me grow as an educator, and I know they will be valuable tools for my future teaching.
