Reflection #9

We have reached the final week of the semester! Four months once felt so far away, yet here we are, finishing strong. This course has been an incredibly valuable experience and has been an eye-opener looking at how quickly technology is evolving and how meaningfully it can be integrated both inside and outside the classroom.

Learning to create a Google Form was especially helpful, as I had never made one before. It was a great opportunity to practice a tool I know I will use in my future teaching. I enjoyed exploring the different question types and customization options, like adding header images and choosing background colors to make the form more engaging.

I also really enjoyed creating the word search puzzle for the lesson I developed throughout the course. It was exciting to discover the variety of online platforms available to support and enhance the lessons we will teach in the future.

One of the most important lessons I have learned throughout my master’s program is the importance of keeping students motivated and engaged through activities that genuinely interest them. That is why learning about tools like Kahoot, Quizizz, Quizlet, and PuzzleMaker was so rewarding. As teachers, it is essential that we understand these tools ourselves so we can effectively model and implement them in our classrooms.

Overall, these digital resources are wonderful assets that I will carry forward and continue to use in my teaching journey.

This is my first time taking an online class, and I must admit, it is a bittersweet feeling. On one hand, I'm unsure of what to expect. It was really interesting to read about the advantages and benefits of using social media in education and inside classrooms. I strongly agree that schools can use social media to organize group projects, communicate with students outside of class, share resources, and much more. In addition, social media has the potential to connect schools to the wider community. I currently work as a substitute teacher for LAUSD. Recently, I taught at Diego Rivera Learning Complex- Green Design High School, where I saw a great example of how social media is used. Students in the media production club record videos throughout the week and share school news every Friday. This activity helps students get involved and be creative while making videos. Students also use Instagram to share school news and promote different clubs. We're now in the fourth week of school, and things are definitely getting busier. Reading about Web 3.0 and how it has evolved from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 really got me thinking, it reminded me of the movie iRobot . I know that might sound a bit funny, but it’s amazing (and a little scary) to see how quickly the internet is changing. It's no longer just on our computers but soon it will be everywhere! I want to stay hopeful that these changes will benefit society and lead to even more innovative ways for us to connect online. One thing that really stood out to me from our readings is how our use of the internet has grown and will keep growing. What fascinated me most was learning that we are not just consuming content but we are actually creating it. That really hit home for me, especially as I write this blog post.
